About Semax
Semax is an artificial peptide which was initially synthesized from a fragment of the adrenocorticotropic hormone (i.e., ACTH 4-10). Scientists modified it by adding a Pro-Gly-Pro sequence, which helps stabilize it and allows it to penetrate deeper into the brain. Semax doesn’t interfere with cortisol levels as other fragments of ACTH do. Instead, it stimulates brain and cognitive function.
Developed in the 1980s, Semax was intended to help patients with stroke, brain trauma, and mental disorders. It has been used clinically in Russia and Ukraine, but it can only be used for research purposes in the USA.
Semax targets brain pathways linked to brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and helps regulate crucial neurotransmitters such as serotonin and dopamine. This produces nootropic effects without side effects of traditional drugs.

Prevent Oxidative Stress
Oxidative stress can be dangerous to cells and cause various damage to the body, especially in organs and the brain. Animal studies suggest that Semax may prevent such damage. For example, in one study where rats were given lead, a well-known neurotoxin, Semax, was shown to guard the brain from oxidative damage. Also, equivalent protective effects have been shown in the liver under conditions of chronic stress and also in the brain and heart following acute conditions caused by strokes or heart attacks. These findings indicate the potential for Semax in reducing injuries caused by oxidative stress.

Facilitates Memory and Learning
Several studies credit Semax’s application to enhance memory and concentration. In one study with healthy men, participants who received Semax were found to react faster in tasks related to attention and memory. Participants in animal experiments also learned faster after receiving Semax. Researchers attribute this to better blood flow in the brain and improved protection against oxidative stress.
Improve Circulation
Inadequate blood supply to the brain is one of the significant risk factors for stroke and mental deterioration. Semax has been examined for its use to prevent or treat ischemic strokes and appears to promote blood flow and maintain the heart. In animal models, it reduced stroke and heart attack damage, and may even prevent heart enlargement caused by elevated blood pressure. In one study, patients with chronic circulatory disorders in the brain experienced fewer symptoms and a lower risk of stroke when talking Semax.
Helps the Body to Cope with Stress
Semax can also decrease the body’s response to stress. In research involving animals with chronic stress, Semax prevented some liver enzymes from increasing-something that stress tends to cause. It also seemed to reverse changes in behavior induced by injury or developmental difficulties. These actions indicate that Semax might stabilize the mind and body under stress.
Increases BDNF, an Important Brain Chemical
Semax has been shown to increase levels of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), which is an essential protein for brain function, mood, and emotional health. A depressed and anxious mood is typically accompanied by low BDNF levels. By facilitating the elevation of BDNF, Semax can contribute to maintaining mental health and mood balance. In stroke rehabilitation trials, patients receiving Semax had better restoration of nerve function, something researchers believe may be due to its effect on BDNF.
Pain Relief
Enkephalins are body chemicals that act in a way to control pain and are produced internally within the body. Semax appears to prevent these chemicals from degrading, which in turn may reduce pain messages. This makes it a potential drug to treat certain types of distress or chronic pain.
Could Help Regulate ADHD
Some of the effects of Semax, such as the improvement in memory and increase in vital neurotransmitters, could be beneficial to ADHD patients. While formal clinical trials are still scarce, researchers have proposed further studies regarding its therapeutic use as a treatment for ADHD. One study in Russia shows that Semax has already been tested in such cases, but it requires more research before it can be absolutely proven effective and dosages can be securely determined.

General Dosing Information
Normal daily dosage: 300 to 600 micrograms
Advanced usage: Up to 900 micrograms per day, divided into two or three doses
Cycle suggestion: Use it for 10 to 14 days, then wait for at least one week before using it again
Some people find that smaller, ‘micro’ doses of around 100 to 200 micrograms taken a few times throughout the day are enough-especially when managing high-stress periods or needing extra focus.
Optimum Way to Take It

How often: One to three times a day
Ideal times to dose:
- Morning, shortly after waking up
- Midday, especially if you’re doing mentally demanding tasks
- Before workouts, for an extra mental boost (optional)
Although most people don’t experience sleep issues with Semax, it’s best to avoid taking it late in the evening if you’re prone to sleep disruption.
Mixing and Storage Tips
If you’re buying Semax in powder form (lyophilized):
Mix it with sterile with sterile bacteriostatic water-preferably 0.9% sodium chloride (NaCl)
Keep the solution in the fridge, ideally between 36-46F (2-8C)
Use within 3 to 4 weeks of mixing for optimal results
You can also purchase pre-made nasal sprays from some sellers. These don’t need mixing but should be from a reputable source with confirmed sterility and correct formulation.
